![]() ![]() But does have a few missteps including the third-act breakup which considering the circumstances around is too easily forgiven and also presents the solution to all the problems within the narrative making the story's ending feel unrealistic considering the tone of the rest of the book. The romance itself is cute, but nothing special, it is the highlight of this graphic novel with Ari and Hector slowing coming together as they struggle with their own insecurities. ![]() ![]() The author doesn't even show Ari as being that much conflicted about it, making the coming-of-age aspect weak in my opinion. Ari hires Hector to replace him so he can focus on music and moving out but spends all his time with Hector and at the bakery. This is because it immediately validates that Ari's place is within the bakery without challenging it. Despite a cute slow burn romance between our two leads, the rest of the story - a coming-of-age about finding your path between your passion and your family business - is rather lacking. ![]()
