Her innocence but also honesty is refreshing and often funny. Opal is not of the normal, human world so certain things she sees we have to guess at the meaning of, or we know things that she does not as she’s explaining them (example: the little tubes in the Cloud Lady’s nose are to help her breathe). It is from the POV of Opal, Ronan’s little “orphan girl” dream creature which I found to be an interesting choice, and gave the book a different tone than the Raven Cycle itself. It’s just a short one-off about Ronan, Opal, and Adam after the events of the previous 4, but it’s sooo good. I hadn’t had that much curiosity about Opal necessarily, but still interested enough. Initial Thoughts: I wasn’t exactly sure what would happen in this book, but I was excited to learn more about Opal and Ronan. An enchanting story from Maggie Stiefvater featuring Opal, Ronan, and Adam from her bestselling Raven Cycle, taking place after the events of The Raven King.
